Back to Pennsylvania

Andrew McCutchen returns to the state of his stardom by signing with the Phillies:

A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that All-Star outfielder and former Pirate Andrew McCutchen and the Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a $50 million, three-year contract.
The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the agreement, which includes a club option for 2022, is subject to a successful physical.

McCutchen’s batting averaged dropped the last few years, and with it his power.  He still does a good job of getting on base, and belongs at the top of the order now.  The Phillies are paying him as a 2 WAR player, and they should get that value from the former Pirate’s star.
