Baseball Across the Pond

With the London series between the Red Sox and the Yankees sold out, Matt Smith looks at the state of British baseball. Reading his summary, it seems that baseball there is much like baseball here in the 19th century. There are lots of independent leagues, quite a bit of in-fighting, and a few great teams.  With luck, the sport on the island will continue to develop the way the sport did here.  Of course, there is the problem of other sports being more deeply rooted in the culture of the country. Soccer appears to be doing a better job of catching on in the US than baseball is in Great Britain.
