Playoffs Today

The Astros and Yankees play the all-important game five, the winner needing just one win on the weekend to take the American League Pennant. Dallas Keuchel faces Masahiro Tanaka in a rematch of game one. Keuchel held the Yankees scoreless for seven innings for the win, while Tanaka allowed two runs in six innings for the loss. Keuchel now owns a 1.69 post-season ERA in five games. In two starts against the Yankees he has yet to allow a run, walking two and striking out 17 in 13 innings of work. Tanaka lost both those games. He walked four and allowed two home runs in his 11 post-season innings against the Astros.

The Dodgers go for their second sweep of the post-season as they send Alex Wood against Jake Arrieta. Wood pitched great on the road this season, 7-1 with a 2.24 ERA, although his three-true outcomes home and road are quite similar. He is coming off a long layoff, however, last pitching on 9/26. Arrieta’s one poor outing in the 2016 post-season came against the Dodgers, when he allowed four runs in five innnings.

Enjoy!
