I hate sweeps in the early rounds of the baseball playoffs, and the Red Sox avoided that with a 10-3 victory over the Astros. All three games ended in blow outs each with at least a six-run lead. The bottom of the order did the damagem with the 5-9 hitters driving in all the runs and scoring eight of them. The 5-8 hitters were a combined 11 for 16.
David Price saved the day on the pitching side. Doug Fister lasted just 1 1/3 innings, Joe Kelly came in for 1 2/3 innings, then Price pitched four scoreless, giving the Red Sox a chance to take and extend the lead.
Game four will be played tomorrow in Boston, although the time might depend on the result of the Indians and Yankees. If the Indians sweep, the Boston game will be in the evening. If the Yankees win, I suspect Houston and Boston will play an early afternoon contest.
