Stanton Demands

What we thought we knew about Giancarlo Stanton was not so:

Reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton is not willing to accept a trade to the San Francisco Giants or St. Louis Cardinals, two teams the Miami Marlins had worked out trade proposals with, according to an MLB Network report. Stanton’s no-trade clause means he has to agree to a trade for a deal to transpire.

Stanton, instead, is interested in a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Yankees, according to MLB Network. Stanton has also zeroed in on the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros as potential destinations, according to a Sirius XM report.

So it appears that Stanton wants to go to a team that has a very good chance to winning a championship now. That’s very different from him wanting a west coast team since he grew up in California. If the report is true, Stanton wants a ring, and will go where the ring is most likely in the shortest period of time.
