Playoffs Today

It’s a potential sweep day as both the Brewers and Dodgers need a win to advance to the NLCS. Milwaukee versus Colorado moves to Denver as Wade Miley faces German Marquez. Miley allowed 50 home runs in 323 1/3 innings during the previous two seasons, but just three in 80 2/3 innings this year. He’s always had a low fly ball percentage, but a high rate of home runs on those fly balls. It’s the latter he cut down as he substituted a cut fastball for his four seamer and sinker. Marquez finished the season strong, posting a 2.25 ERA in his last 13 starts.

In Atlanta, Walker Buehler and the Dodgers take on Sean Newcomb. Beuhler also finished the season strong, with a 1.55 ERA in his last 12 starts. He limited hits, with the opposition post a .158/.238/.239 slash line. Newcomb lowered his ERA by 0.4 runs compared to his rookie season. I suspect he was helped by a better defense, as his three-true outcomes didn’t change much, but his BABIP dropped from .327 to .273.

Enjoy!
