Eno Sarris looks at a new measure of stuff called Arsenal Combination Estimate Scores (ACES), statistic that combines velocity and movement:
The idea is that we can put a value on the movement, velocity and command of each individual pitch in an arsenal, and give that ‘stuff’ a score that is independent of any results.TheAthletic.com
Sauceda calls this newest measure ACES — Arsenal Combination Estimate Scores — and it fares better than projections when it comes to predicting the future. It’s also very sticky year to year! It’s stickier than ground-ball rate, strikeout rate, whiff rate — all of the things we normally use to power our projections.
So look for a good ACES score in the past to grab a sleeper in your fantasy draft.
