This is why players hire agents. The agents hear all these negative things, then go back to the player and say, “It’s a difficult negotiation, but we’ll get it done.” That’s why most teams want to settle, to avoid hurting the relationship with the player.
I wonder if agents prepare their players for the negativity? Politicians will dig up dirt on themselves to see what the other side can throw at them. If players went into the hearings knowing their short comings already, it might make these things easier.
