The Red Sox sent 40 men to the play in their 8-2 win over the Astros. The Red Sox did their best to put the ball in play, striking out just three times. They drew three walks, had two hit batters, and hit two home runs, so their BABIP was 7 for 30, .233. The difference was outside the BABIP as their first home run game them their final lead of the game, and the two HBPs set up the grand slam for their final four runs. The Astros played excellent defense on the night, and against a team like that, maybe drawing walks (or HBP) and hitting home runs is the better strategy.
