Playoffs Today

The Rockies and Brewers play at 5 PM EDT with Antonio Senzatela taking the hill for the Rockies against the Brewers bullpen. Senzatela made 13 starts and ten relief appearances, pitching better as a starter. His posted a 6.23 ERA coming out of the pen, 3.95 in the starting role. We don’t know who will be the opener for the Brewers:

Rather than name a starting pitcher for Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Colorado Rockies, Brewers manager Craig Counsell announced Wednesday it will be a “bullpen day.” And he didn’t reveal which reliever would be first out of the chute.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, “bullpening” has come to the postseason.

The Brewers bullpen posted a .230/.308/.376 opposition slash line this season. That’s good, but the starters are not much worse at .235/.309/.395.

At 8:30 PM EDT, the Braves face the Dodgers with Mike Foltynewicz taking on Hyun-Jin Ryu. Foltynewicz dropped his ERA this season nearly two runs but greatly increasing his strikeout rate and greatly reducing his home run rate. Ryu is 5-2 with 1.15 ERA at home this season, walking just six batters in 54 2/3 innings. He also went 6 for 15 at the plate.

Enjoy!
