Powering to the LDS

The Yankees put on an impressive display of power on both sides of the ball Wednesday night as they defeat the Athletics 7-2 in the AL Wild Card game. New York hit two home runs, two doubles, and a triple, accounting for five of their seven hits. Yankees pitchers struck out 13 Athletics batters, holding Oakland to five hits. The homers came from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, but guns who were intended to inflict damage on the opposition.

The Oakland bullpen strategy did not work as the opener was tagged with two runs early, and two of the closers, used in the middle of the game, combined for five runs allowed.

Congratulations to the Yankees on advancing to the ALDS. A five-game New York series versus Boston should be a lot of fun, although I suspect we will a nine-inning game last six hours.
