Six for Six

All four home teams won on Friday, making the home teams six for six in the LDS. So far, the Rockies wild card win is the only one by a road team in the playoffs. The Red Sox bullpen bent but didn’t break as the Yankees scored four runs in the last four innings. Boston held on for a 5-4 game one win. This is how I saw the series, the teams evenly matched, but Boston a little better.

The Dodgers pitchers continued their scoreless inning streak as they shutout the Braves for the second game in a row, winning 3-0 being eight “pitch to contact” innings by Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw struck out three and walked none (he did hit a batter) as the Dodgers defense held the Braves to two hits behind the ace and three for the game. Kershaw threw just 85 pitches, so I suspect the Braves where trying to put the ball in play early in the count, and it just didn’t work out for them. The Dodgers have now pitched 18 consecutive scoreless innings, and held opponents scoreless in 35 of their last 36 innings.
