Jackie Bradley, Jr. once again stuns the Astros. After Houston takes a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth, Josh James stays in to pitch the sixth inning after 2 2/3 innings of relief. He gets the first two outs, then gives up a double to Christian Vazquez, and Bradley follows with his second home run in as many days to put the Red Sox up 6-5. Boston would score single runs in the seventh and eighth innings as well, and win the game 8-6 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the ALCS.
The seven and nine slots are hitting extremely well for Boston in this post-season. Seven slot hitters are posting a .281/.343/.531 slash line, while the number nines are coming in at .261/.452/.696. Even the number eight hitters have two doubles and five RBI, giving the bottom of the order 21 runs driven in during the eight games played. It’s a bottom boom for Boston.
(So how do you arrange the team in the Brady squares? I’d but the three B outfielders in the Brady Boys column. Bogaerts, Devers, and Holt in the girls column. J.D. Martinez and Chris Sale Mr. and Mrs. Brady, with Alex B. Cora as Alice.)
