The Indians beat the Red Sox 4-3 Monday night, and the ALCS is set with Cleveland hosting Toronto, the Great Lakes Series. Two of the games were decided by one run, but the 6-0 blowout in game two meant Cleveland outscored Boston 15-7 in the series.
Jason Kipnis, Jose Ramirez, and Lonnie Chisenhall provided a lot of the offense. Andrew Miller pitched four scoreless inning in middle relief, keeping the Indians in the game when a back of the bullpen reliever might have blown the game.
David Ortiz did not hit well in the series, .111/.250/.222. Dustin Pedroia, Mookie Betts, and Xander Bogaerts all disappointed. The good news for the Red Sox is that good, young core should mature into a mighty team.
The Indians have not won a World Series since 1948, and the Jays have not been to the Fall Classic since 1993. Three of the four remaining NL teams have not won for a long time, so some drought may end this season.
