Playoffs Today

The Dodgers have three match points left as they face the Cubs in Chicago with Clayton Kershaw battling Jose Quintana. Tonight’s game time is 8 PM EDT.

Kershaw passed the 100 inning barrier for the post season in his last start. His post-season ERA is over two runs higher than his regular season career ERA. His strikeout rate in the post-season is higher, his walk rate is a tad higher, but his home run rate goes from 0.60 HR per 9 IP in the regular season to 1.35 HR per 9 IP in the post-season. Good offenses tend to get to the post season, and good offenses tend to hit home runs. Since Kershaw doesn’t allow much else, the long ball is how teams should be attacking him in the post-season.

Quintana pitched solidly so far in his first post-season. He walked four and struck out 11 in 11 1/3 innings, only allowing five hits. None of those have left the park yet. With the Cubs, he did allow seven of his nine home runs at Wrigley, however.

Enjoy!
