Ryan Pollack uses a machine learning algorithm to predict the Cy Young Award winners. In the NL, he predicts Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, and Miles Mikolas. Already that is a bit off, as we know Aaron Nola finished at least third. In the AL, he has Blake Snell, Gerrit Cole, and Trevor Bauer, and we know that Justin Verlander and Corey Kluber made the top three instead of their teammates. Still, his model has the ability to get the top spot right.
Tom Tango’s method, which is very simple, list deGrom, Scherzer, and Nola as the top three in the NL, and Snell Verlander, and Kluber as the top three in the AL. We’ll see who wins tonight.
