Brian Cashman spoke today on letting Joe Girardi leave the Yankees:
”The issue and the concerns were,” Cashman said, ”ability to fully engage, communicate, connect with the playing personnel. And in saying that there might be a tough hurdle for someone that’s been in that particular position as a manager for 10 years.”
I don’t know. For an intense guy, the Yankees players seemed to be having a lot of fun this year. I loved their interview at the of the home-run, high-five gauntlet. Sometimes, not doing something is just as good as making that connection. I suspect the Yankees wanted someone who might be better bringing along younger players.
