Red Sox Rotation

The Red Sox starting pitching appears to have found a groove in August. They own the second highest average game score in the majors in this month, only the Cubs doing better. The 60.3 mark is due to the team going deep in games with a high K total. One reason is Clay Buchholz, who appears to be back to being an excellent starting pitcher. In three games back from the bullpen, he pitched 16 2/3 innings without allowing a home run. For the year, he allowed 17 in 107 2/3 innings. Brian Bannister may wind up the most valuable addition to Boston this year.

The rotation was the weak point for the Red Sox all year. If they can keep this going, Boston looks like a sure bet for the playoffs.
