Weekly Look at Offense

Week 19 of the 2016 produced 9.78 runs per game, the second highest scoring week of the season. That means 2016 maintained the 0.6 run difference when measured against 2015 at the same point in time. The 2016 season is averaging 8.98 runs per game. Through 19 weeks, 2015 averaged 8.36 runs per game. Home runs remain about 0.4 per game more, 2.33 this season versus 1.97 last year. Walks and strikeouts remain way up from last year, and non-home run hits remain down. It’s a year when using selectivity and power at the plate pay off.
