Cody Allen comes on to pitch the ninth inning for the Indians. He gets two grounders and a strikeout as the Blue Jays fall 2-0.
Despite the shutout, the Indians did not dominate the game. The Blue Jays collected more hits and more walks. Toronto did strike out 12 times, which made it difficult for them to move the runners who were on base. They went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position.
Cleveland wins on a mistake by Macro Estrada, who went the distance in the loss. Francisco Lindor got all of a pitch and blasted it into the seats for the only runs of the game.
The game lasted 2:44, as the pitchers for the two teams didn’t need to take 30 seconds to think about every pitch. The clubs meet against Saturday afternoon.
