Tanner Roark gives up a single, walk, and hit by pitch with one out in the second to load the bases. He then strikes out opposing pitcher Rich Hill and gets Chase Utley to ground out to end the inning. Typical of Roark this season, he allows a lot of walks and singles, but limits the damage by not allowing power. Batters slugged .327 against him. When opponents can only get a base at a time, it’s tough to score a lot of runs.
The Dodgers still lead the Nationals 1-0 going to the bottom of the second inning.
