Bryan Shaw faces Joses Bautista in the bottom of the seventh inning having given up a single to Ryan Goins. Bautista hits a tapper along the third base line. Shaw bare hands the ball, but rushes the throw. It sails over the head of the first baseman to give the Blue Jays runners at first and third. The Indians then intentionally walk Josh Donaldson to load the bases and set up a force at any base. Edwin Encarnacion comes up with the Blue Jays leading the Indians 2-1.
The Indians can afford to take chances with a 3-0 lead in the series.
Update: I would be remiss in not noting that once again, the Indians are using a closer early in the game.
Encarnacion singles up the middle, driving in two runs. Donaldson is out at third for the first out of the inning. The Blue Jays lead 4-2.
Update: That’s it for Shaw, as Mike Clevinger comes in to pitch.
