Miggy at Third

Since the Tigers open the season in a Miami, a National League park, Miguel Cabrera may play third base.

Cabrera, 32, played in 119 games last season, but didn’t record an inning in the hot corner.

Still, Cabrera’s bat is just too good to keep out of the lineup. He claimed the batting title in 2015, hitting .338 with 28 homers and 76 RBI.

I like that Brad Ausmus is flexible enough to think about player Cabrera at third once in a while. I’m not sure this is the right situation, however. Miami hurts home runs, and overall scoring just a tad. A team is more likely to play a close game there, and an extra man on base due to Cabrera’s defense might hurt more than a 2 for 3 with a walk will help.
