César Vargas comes to see and conquer the Chicago Cubs as the Padres face Jon Lester. Vargas has yet to win in three starts despite a 1.10 ERA. With a .343 opposition OBP, he’s put on a ton of runners. They don’t go very far, however, as opponents are slugging just .316 against him. Lester struck out 38 in his first 40 innings of 2016, helping him to a 1.58 ERA. Opponents are just 4 for 27 against him with runners in scoring position.
