Games of the Day

The White Sox finish their series with Detroit as Jose Quintana takes on Jordan Zimmermann. Quintana’s 2.89 ERA would be the lowest single season mark of his career. He’s only allowed one unearned run this season. Zimmermann returns from the disabled list, last having pitched on June 30th. He allowed six of his eight home runs at home this season.

Toronto and Houston battle for the wild card as J.A. Happ faces Mike Fiers. With both Chris Sale and Rick Porcello losing well pitched games on Wednesday, Happ tries to become the first 15 game winning in the AL. He never won more than 12 in a single season before this year. In a odd split, he doesn’t strike out as many batters on the road as he does at home, but he allows fewer hits. Fiers walks few batters but gives up a high number of home runs. Despite the low walk numbers, seven of the 17 came with men on base.

Finally, Kenta Maeda visits Tyler Chatwood as the Rockies go for a sweep of the Dodgers at home. Maeda made two starts against the Rockies this season, one home, one away. He walked two, struck out 17, and allowed one run. Chatwood’s home ERA, 5.69, is almost 4.4 runs higher than his road ERA of 1.30.

Enjoy!
