Road Woes

The Astros are now hitting .215/.289/.353 on the road in the 2017 post season, compared to .273/.343/.519 at home. They are a slugging first baseman in Houston, a good handler of pitchers away. They scored no more than one run four times in eight road games, and a total of 22 runs in those games. They are 2-6 on the road going into game seven in Los Angeles.

The big difference is strikeouts. They struck out 71 times in 306 PA on the road, just 49 times in 332 PA at home. It’s tough to get hits if a team doesn’t put the ball in play. That was a big part of the Astros attack in 2017, and they struck out the least of any American League team this season.
