Before the Mets-Marlins games, the two teams lined up along the dirt on the edge of the infield. The eight starting Marlins stood on either side of an empty mound as the stadium observed a moment of silence. The number 16 is on the back of the mound.
Following the silence, a bugler played “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” instead of taps. An absolutely perfect tribute to Jose Fernandez.
