It was another poor day for massive tie possibilities in the AL. The Yankees almost beat Toronto, but the bullpen blew a one-run lead in the ninth. The Tigers were the only team that lost, basically putting the Blue Jays and Orioles in command of the race.
Team | Record |
Blue Jays | 1-6 |
Orioles | 2-4 |
Tigers | 4-3 |
Mariners | 5-2 |
Astros | 5-1 |
I don’t think that’s going to happen.
Even the four-way tie for the second wild card slot looks iffy. A three-way tie for the second slot between the Orioles, Tigers, and Mariners could happen, but a three-way for the top two slots, like in the NL, may be the best bet.
Team | Record |
Blue Jays | 4-2 |
Orioles | 5-1 |
Tigers | 7-0 |
Since the Orioles and Blue Jays play three games head-to-head, Baltimore would need to take two of three from Toronto to make this happen at 90 wins.
Stay tuned.
