Domingo Santana takes Mike Fiers deep in the top of the third inning with the bases loaded to put the Mariners up 5-2 over the Athletics. Fiers pitched carefully to Edwin Encarnacion, walking the veteran power hitter to fill the bases, setting up Santana for the big blast. The Mariners acquired Santana for his power. So far, so good.
