Most of us are fortunate, we don’t have to worry about the basics of life—like potable water. We tend to take it for granted, even wasting too much.
Yet finding clean, potable sufficient for daily survival is a problem for over 663 Million people in the world. Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.
Long time readers know that for the past few years I’ve sponsored a campaign with Charity:Water.
Over the past years, we’ve raised close to $23K, funding wells in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Southeast Asia. These wells provide water to thousands of people.
We know water is critical to survival. Clean potable water reduces death rates among young children.
Water is critical to economic and educational development. In communities without water, women and children often have to spend hours each day, walking to and from sources of water. Having wells in their communities frees up time for women to start new businesses and enables children to spend time in schools.
The wonderful thing about Charity:Water is that 100% of your contributions go directly to the development of water resources in communities in Africa, Asia, and other developing parts of the world.
Our collective goal, this year is to raise over $8500, moving us well over the $30K mark. Please take a few minutes to our Making A Difference 2015/2016 Campaign. Past contributors have found it to be one of the most rewarding things they have done. Charity:Water mails regular updates so you can see the impact of your contributions.
Many of you have your own favorite charities or causes. While it would be great to have you support this campaign, it’s more important that you contribute your time, resources, and money to those causes and organizations you feel most passionate about.
I started this blog, years ago, with the mission to Make A Difference in the business and professional lives of the people who are part of this community.
