Outfield Training

I find it interesting that Miguel Sano stopped playing winter ball in order to prepare for moving to the outfield from designated hitter in 2016.

GM Terry Ryan is quoted by Bollinger as stating that stopping Winter League activity was a decision Sano made himself – and the Twins didn’t object to that move.

I would think that Sano could still do the physical work and get experience roaming the outfield by playing winter ball. I guess he will depend on spring training to learn to chase flies.

I would also be a bit concerned that the Twins are a bit heavy on designated hitter type players. Sano, new addition Byung Ho Park, and Joe Mauer are all limited defensively.
