Orioles Buy a Bat

The Orioles plucked Hyun-soo Kim from Korea:

Kim, 27, hit .326 with a .438 on-base percentage, 28 home runs and 128 RBIs in 141 games last season in the Korean Baseball Organization. He also walked 101 times with just 63 strikeouts. For his career, he has more walks (597) than strikeouts (501).

He will likely compete for a starting spot in left field, which is currently held by Nolan Reimold. He also could see time at first base, where Mark Trumbo is listed as the starter.

He will play 2016 as a 28-year-old, so he still has a couple of peak years left. He does not strike out much and draws a ton of walks, making him a high average, high OBP player. His power is okay, and I suspect he’ll hit a few home runs at Camden Yards. If he turns out to be a .270/.340/.430 hitter, he’ll a decent major league player, and much cheaper than Chris Davis.
