The Nationals and Daniel Murphy agree to a contract, pending a physical:
The Nationals have agreed with free-agent second baseman Daniel Murphy on a three-year deal, pending a physical, FOX Sports MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday.
#Nationals will lose first-round pick, No. 18 overall, for signing Murphy. #Mets will gain compensation pick between 1st and 2nd rounds.

One thing I thought was odd during the playoffs was how hot a free agent Murphy would be due to his unusual power performance. (To a lesser extent, the same was true of Yoenis Cespedes, due to his short term success with the Mets.) I would expect Murphy to receive around $55 million for the three years.
If Trea Turner works out and Ryan Zimmerman stays healthy, the Nationals will have a very good hitting infield.
