Jake Arrieta‘s win on Saturday helped him regain the lead in Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points. He leads Clayton Kershaw in the NL race by 0.8 points thanks mostly to two more wins. If I had to vote today, Kershaw and Arrieta would rank 1-2 respectively. We’ll see how it plays out the rest of the season. If Arrieta puts up a 22-3 season, he’ll win the Cy Young award easily.
Note that this list also gives us a pretty good idea of the good front line rotations in the majors. Chicago teams put five pitchers in the top ten, two for the White Sox and three for the Cubs. The Giants have pitchers ranked 12, 13, and 14. The Game Score report, however, shows that front-line starters aren’t enough to make you a quality rotation. The Cubs do rank #1 on that list, but there are a number of teams ahead of the White Sox and Giants.
