Matt Holliday just got hit in the nose by a pitch from Andrew Cashner. At first I thought the ball ricocheted off his hand, but it came in high as Holliday tried to protect himself, slipping above his hands and catching the front of Matt’s nose on profile. There was blood flowing, but Holliday insisted on going to first before coming out of the game. Another inch inside and the ball would have gotten an eye.
The Padres lead the Cardinals 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
