Hanley Ramirez hit two home runs for the Red Sox in his first two plate appearances. In his third, he was hit by a pitch. As he walked to first, he said to the pitcher, “I’ll get you back.” He hits the first pitch of his fourth PA over the Green Monster for his third home run of the game. The Red Sox were up 8-0, but the Giants came back to cut the lead to 8-7. Ramirez, with his third two-run homer, extends the lead to 10-7.
The Yankees beat the Orioles, so if Boston hangs on, they will be in first place alone in the AL East.
