Games of the Day

The Orioles go for a sweep of the Indians as Corey Kluber faces Vance Worley. Kluber is pretty much matching his rate stats from last season, down a little in strikeouts and up a little in walks, but both rates remain outstanding. The improved team around him means he already equaled his win total of nine from 2015. Worley makes his fourth start of the season to go with 18 relief appearances. He’s allowed three home runs as a starter in 15 innings, after giving up two HR in 36 1/3 innings as a reliever.

Philadelphia sends Vince Velasquez against the Pirates and Jameson Taillon in a battle of young pitchers. Velasquez sports a 3.15 ERA as his high strikeout and low walk rates held opponents to a .309 OBP. Taillon makes the seventh start of his career, having walking just five batters in 34 innings.

Finally, Jon Lester leads the Cubs against the Brewers and Junior Guerra. Lester holds a 5-2 record both home and away, but his ERA is about a run and half higher on the road. That’s where he allows the majority of his home runs. Guerra, a 31-year-old rookie, owns a 3.06 ERA having struck out 78 batters in 88 1/3 innings with 29 walks. He holds a 2.76 ERA at home.

Enjoy!
