The Season in an Afternoon

With five Wednesday afternoon games completed, there have been 43 runs scored and 20 home runs hit. That seems like a low ratio of runs to home runs to me, 2.15 R/HR. Looking at days this season with at least six games played, the lowest Run/HR ratio was on June 20th, when went ten games produced 77 runs and 30 home runs, a ratio of 2.57. So far today, we are well under that.

Scoring is up in 2016 mostly due to home runs, and to a certain extent walks. This afternoon was a perfect demonstration of that trend. We’ll see how the rest of the day works out.
