Clayton Kershaw experienced more back pain and will be shut down until the pain is gone:
he outing was intended to be his last tuneup before he rejoined the big-league roster. Instead, Kershaw will be shut down until his pain goes away.
Kershaw has not pitched since June 26 due to a herniated disk. Manager Dave Roberts indicated a date for his return to the Dodgers is “uncertain.”
The Dodgers starters have a mixed record since losing Kershaw. They are 9-4 in 17 starts, but with a 4.80 ERA. They struck out 108 in 86 1/3 innings, but walked 32. That’s not bad. They should be able to survive if they keep up that strikeout rate.
