Games of the Day

Carlos Carrasco leads the Indians against the defending World Champion Royals and Ian Kennedy. Carrasco is posting the best season of his career in terms of ERA, despite his three-true outcome rates slipping compared to 2015. He is holding batters to a .159 BA with runners in scoring position. Kennedy’s walks and strikeout rates are very good, but he’s been hurt by 22 home runs in 105 innings. Only four of those came in home games, however.

Bartolo Colon faces Kyle Hendricks as the Mets finish their series with the Cubs. Since the start of the 2013 season, Colon owns the lowest walk rate in the majors (minimum 500 IP). He was seasonal age 40 in 2013. Hendricks is 6-1 with a 1.50 ERA at home, where he allowed just two of his eight homers.

Miguel Gonzalez gets the call for the White Sox as Seattle see the return of Felix Hernandez from the disabled list. Gonzalez’s number look better than his ERA, but he gets hit hard with men on base. Hernandez last pitched on May 27th. The Mariners were 28-19 after that game, 47x-46x now.

Finally, Matt Cain and the Giants continue their series against the Red Sox with Drew Pomeranz debuting for Boston. Cain comes off the disabled list for the second time this season. The last time he only lasted 3 2/3 innings. Opposition batters are having a field day against Cain, posting a .308/.359/.487 slash line. Pomeranz posted a 2.47 ERA with the Padres. His strength there was 115 K in 102 innings.

Enjoy!
