Only one game stands out on a short-schedule Thursday, the Mets playing the Giants in San Francisco. Jacob deGrom takes on Madison Bumgarner. In his last nine starts, deGrom allowed just 10 runs, five of those coming in one game. Six of those runs came on the five home runs he allowed. That’s all good for a 1.49 ERA.
Bumgarner stands as the likely Cy Young winner in the NL at this point. Over his last nine starts, Bumgarner has a pattern of a poor start followed by two good one. The Mets should be happy that he is due for a bad start.
