When Ubaldo Jimenez finds the strike zone, he pitches fine. Monday afternoon against the Rays he walked just one batter, and would up going the distance as the Orioles win 7-3. For the season, however, he walked 62 in 116 1/3 innings, which is a big reason his ERA is still over 6.00. Including today, he walked three batters total in his last three starts, and allowed seven runs in 21 1/3 innings. If he can pick that up through September and possibly into the playoffs, he’ll be a huge boost to the Orioles rotation. With the Orioles a high scoring team, Jimenez does not need to be great to win. A 3.50 ERA will work just fine.
