Pitching Outside

Eli Ben-Porat at The Hardball Times examines why pitching on the outside edge is so effective. I really like this graph for another reason, it shows how steady BABIP is across the strike zone, only really falling on pitches way inside. It’s another example of why the Royals and Angels hitting philosophy works. Put the ball in play, and good things happen.
