Games of the Day

Max Scherzer leads the Nationals into Queens to face Noah Syndergaard and the Mets. Scherzer comes off a record tying 20 strikeout game, and owns 66 K in 52 innings. Since joining the Nationals, he struck out 342 batters in 280 2/3 innings. He’s 1-2 against the Mets in four starts during that time, but with a 1.82 ERA. Syndergaard is no slouch with strikeouts as he fanned 221 batters in his 196 1/3 MLB innings. He stands 1-0 against the Nationals in three starts with a 1.80 ERA.

On the west coast, former Angels ace Jered Weaver takes on current Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw. Weaver pitched inconsistently this season. He made three starts in which he allowed one or two runs, and two start in which he allowed four runs, and two starts in which he gave up 7 and 8 runs. Opponents are hitting him to the tune of a .325 with a .556 slugging percentage. His strength is just nine walks in 38 1/3 innings, but the hits are more than making up for that. Walks are an even bigger strength for Kershaw, with just four allowed in 62 innings to go with 77 K. Opponents are hitting just .186 against him with a .268 slugging percentage.

Enjoy!
