People in Puerto Rico are upset that MLB canceled two games in the commonwealth:
Not long after Friday’s announcement, Puerto Rican officials lashed out at the decision. Rep. Angel Matos, head of the tourism commission for Puerto Rico’s House of Representatives, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review “it’s an outrageous situation.”
“The reality is that this cancellation is unfair, disproportionate, and makes our country look bad,” Matos said. “It’s an act of touristic terrorism.”
San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto told the Tribune-Review the decision had been made “based on fear and misinformation.”
While MLB blamed the cancellation on mosquitoes, I would be more worried that the teams would get to the airport and find a sign that said, “Island closed due to bankruptcy.”
