Games of the Day

Washington tries to get a win against the Cubs as they send Gio Gonzalez against Jason Hammel. Gonzalez came into the season with a very even platoon split, doing well against both left-handed and right-handed batters. This year he improved on both, but the lefty is doing an impressive job at keeping right-handed batters off base. Hammel makes his 12th career start versus the Nationals. He is 9-0 with a 3.01 ERA in those starts. He’s been extremely stingy with walks to Washington.

Ervin Santana takes on the undefeated Chris Sale as the Twins play the White Sox. Santana comes into the games with an 0-1 record in four starts despite a 3.15 ERA. The Twins lost all four games by one or two runs, scoring a total of 11 runs. Sale won both close games and blow outs to achieve his 6-0 record. He won one-run games by scores of 4-3, 1-0, and 2-1, and three blows where the White Sox won by a combined score of 24-5.

Enjoy!
