World’s Greatest Walk-off?

The Astros and Red Sox were tied at five in the bottom of the eleventh inning when David Ortiz comes to the plate. There is a man on first and two out. A wild pitch moves the runner to second. Ortiz then hits a smash to the triangle in center, and is credited with a walk-off double. It’s not just another walk-off hit for Ortiz, who has so many in his career. That was his 600th double, making him the 15th player to reach that milestone. In addition, Oritz hit a single, triple, and home run earlier in the game, the double giving him the cycle!

Ortiz last tripled in 2013. This was right up there with Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Wade Boggs hitting home runs for their 3000th hit.

Update: Sorry, the box score I saw was wrong. There was no single. It’s still a pretty great walk-off hit.
