The Rangers beat the Astros 12-4 Saturday afternoon, and have now won nine of their last ten games. nine of those ten came against potential playoff teams. Texas took three of four from Cleveland, swept three games from the Mariners, and now took the first two game of the series against the Astros. Their magic number to clinch the AL West stands at 17, and own the best record in the AL.
The Rangers scored 75 runs in their last 10 games, hitting double digits in each of the last three wins. The allowed 41 runs, thanks in part to two games that ended in shutouts and two games in which the opposition scored just one run. When a team is scoring over seven runs a game, it’s easy to win no matter the quality of the pitching. The Rangers are looking more and more like the team to beat in the AL.
