Embarrassing Broadcast

At the start of the Cubs game at the Reds, the Reds announcer was talking about the poor start for the Cubs offense, noting the low batting average of some prominent players. His color commentator pointed out that the Cubs have drawn a ton of walks and were second in the NL in runs per game.

Five home runs later, the Cubs lead the Reds 13-0 in the top of the seventh. Kris Bryant just hit his second of the evening, a grand slam. I guess all those walks, combined with power, makes up for a poor batting average.

Oh, and the Cubs collected 14 hits tonight to go with six walks. The Reds have no hits through six off Jake Arrieta.

Update: Arrieta gets two ground outs and a strike out to retire the Reds 1-2-3 in the seventh. He’s six outs away from a no-hitter.
