On the same night Jose Lobaton tripled, the White Sox made an historic triple play:
The White Sox pulled off their first triple play in nearly 10 years in historic fashion in the seventh inning of Friday’s 5-0 win over the Texas Rangers.
It was the first 9-3-2-6-2-5 triple play in major league history, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
“Besides marrying my wife and the birth of my kid, that’s high up there,” right fielder Adam Eaton said, smiling. “I’ve never had that much fun on a ballfield.”
Needless to say, there was a lot of bad base running on the play. Mookie Betts hit two triples Friday night, missing the cycle by a home run. There were seven triples on Friday, including one by the ancient Chase Utley.
